Tottenham vs Chelsea Preview

Premier League Preview: Tottenham vs Chelsea

Spurs are riding high in third place, a spot above the Blues, after a fine start to the season, while Andre Villas-Boas' men will be aiming to bounce back from Wigan disappointment

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp is expected to make do without the services of Aaron Lennon, who picked up a hamstring injury during the recent clash against Sunderland.Goal.com exclusively revealed that the winger's injury is not as bad as initially feared, but he should remain out of action for two or three weeks.

On the left flank, Gareth Bale is a doubt since he is recovering from an ankle problem. But the boss could choose to bring him back for this game considering the magnitude of the match.

Ledley King played in the 1-0 victory over Sunderland and usually needs time to recover from his match exertions due to his well documented knee problems, but it has been reported that he might be given a look in if he recovers sufficiently.

Meanwhile, Jermain Defoe is nursing a hamstring injury, but is expected to be back in time for the game against Chelsea. But David Bentley (knee), Michael Dawson (Achilles), Tom Huddlestone (ankle) and Jermaine Jenas (Achilles) are all sidelined for the game at White Hart Lane.

As far as Chelsea is concerned, captain John Terry picked up a problem during training but the club has since downplayed the problem. Boss Andre Villas-Boas may not be certain of having a full strength defense, as David Luiz remains a doubt due to a minor knee injury.

Ramires is also a concern as he is recovering from a muscle injury that caused him to miss the trip to Wigan Athletic. Frank Lampard should retain his place in the starting lineup if the Brazilian is unable to make it in time for this fixture.
